Sharing a Passion for Pilates and Giving Back to Communities

December 18, 2017

The BASI Family is comprised of individuals who value togetherness and quality, and love sharing their passion for Pilates with others. The letter below From Kevin Bowen, Founder of The Pilates Initiative, offers a unique opportunity to marry these values with the idea of giving back to our communities.

The Pilates Initiative (TPI) is a “not for profit” organization that dedicates its mission and outreach to supporting the professional Pilates community and the public at large in the continued development, education and promotion of the Pilates method.

The immediate goal of TPI is to get 100 qualified community classes, by way of Pilates movement classes or self-health classes, happening across the U.S. in the next 6 months. Our TPI Community Classes or our self-health short seminars are a great way to offer the many benefits of the Pilates method and holistic health practices to a wide swath of the population at little to no cost. A list of all members and classes will be on the website so that the general public and various health care providers can find classes near them.

TPI is looking for members who will also be active advocates for TPI and the Pilates method. We would like to see every member involved on some level. The longer term goal is to create a cohesive educated and informed member network that is well-versed in providing information and assistance on achieving a healthy lifestyle, navigating the health care system to achieve these goals, and improving life through the core principles of the Pilates method.

Community Classes will also raise money to assist in funding additional TPI Community Classes, national promotion, and ongoing grant writing to further fund this project and expand its reach. Maybe someday we will see classes offered for free several times a week to those in need at local recreation centers or healthcare facilities. The possibilities are endless. If we give back, we will get back as well as set up Pilates studios and teachers to be the ‘go to’ leaders for health and wellness.
