Pilates Conferences and Symposiums
BASI participates in a variety of Pilates conferences and symposiums every year, ranging from the annual Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) conference to BASI’s highly successful Learn from the Leaders conference.
Since 1993, BASI's Learn from the Leaders Conferences (LFTL) have always been more than just education, they are a celebration of the BASI community and its tremendous spirit. This highly acclaimed series has expanded worldwide with great success in the U.S., Australia, South Africa, Germany, and Greece, with more in the works. BASI Pilates® founder, Rael Isacowitz conceived of the LFTL conference as a forum in which leaders of the Pilates world could come together to further the philosophy and practice of Pilates education in a collaborative manner. Guest teachers for the conference have come from a variety of Pilates backgrounds, and have included original students of Joseph Pilates, such as Lolita San Miguel.
The success of the Learn from the Leaders conference is clear from the stellar list of teachers who have led or participated in its sessions. They include the leading students and protégés of the first generation—Michelle Larssen (Eve Gentry), Kathy Corey (Ron Fletcher), Rael Isacowitz (Kathy Grant,) Alan Herdman (Robert Fitzgerald)—as well as the most celebrated of the current teachers: Deborah Lessen, Carol Appel, Jillian Hessel, Carolyne Anthony, Brett Howard, and Karen Clippinger.
Most Learn from the Leaders classes and workshops are approved for continuing education credits from the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA).
