BASI PilaTEAS – Adding Stillness to Movement

Being adaptable and open to new possibilities is a part of staying in the flow. Nothing is permanent, everything is changing. When BASI Pilates founder, Rael Isacowitz, was invited to a retreat in Portugal in 2017, it was this openness to experience which led to an entirely new direction for the company – BASI PilaTEAS – a range of delicious herbal tea blends.

 

Rael explained how BASI PilaTEAS came to be, picking up the story from the retreat in Portugal, where he was staying with his good friend, Shaolin Monk and Kung Fu master, Shifu Wang Bo. “Each morning started early, quietly taking in the sunrise while sipping on tea which Wang Bo prepared from fresh herbs”. Rael continued, “It was bliss. It set the tone for the entire day. With those feelings, the rest of the day just takes care of itself.”

 

It was there, in the quiet of the moment, that Rael felt the bliss of stillness and the importance of the tea ceremony. He said, “I love not only the tea itself, which has such a calming and rejuvenating effect on me, it is the ritual around preparing the tea that makes such a great impression. Our lives are so fast, we don’t slow down enough even to prepare something as simple as tea. The tea in some way exemplifies all we are teaching in movement and puts me in the perfect frame of mind.

 

BASI PilaTEAS is a collaboration between Rael Isacowitz and Shifu Wang Bo. This collection offers five different herbal tea blends designed for specific health benefits: Sleep & Relaxation, Longevity, Vitality & Energy, Immunity, and Cleanse & Detox. All ingredients are grown at the Shaolin Temple in China, harvested by hand, and are developed and formulated by master herbalists, Shifu Wang Bo.

 

Always smiling, Rael concluded his story by jovially saying, “I have a pot brewing in my office all day. I offer a cup to each person that comes in. Now it seems that everyone looks forward to meetings with me.”
