10 Ways to Prevent Coronavirus at the Studio

March 6, 2020

To Our Valued Clients and Guests,

Your health and safety are our top priority, and we’d like to emphasize that at BASI Academy & Studio we are ALWAYS following best practices to ensure our studio is clean and sanitary. However, in the wake of the global COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, we are taking additional precautions to help keep you safe and healthy.

As an eco-conscious company, BASI Academy & Studio uses hand dryers instead of paper towels, as well as non-toxic, environmentally friendly cleaners on our equipment that are natural antiseptics and inhibit 99.9% of germs. Our studio is thoroughly cleaned by a professional team three times a week, with towels changed out daily and professionally cleaned and sanitized weekly. Hand sanitizer bottles are placed throughout the studio, and disinfectant wipes are available to wipe down door handles and common surfaces you may come into contact with.

We appreciate your help in keeping our studio clean and safe for everyone. Whether you’re coming to BASI Academy & Studio, or any other studio environment, please follow these 10 tips and recommendations for healthy hygiene and sanitation.

Tips and Recommendations While at the Studio

DO wash hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after your workout, as well as before and after using the restroom.

DO dry hands completely after washing. Studies show that damp hands spread 1,000x more germs than dry hands.

DO open bathroom door handles with elbows or hip.

DO make frequent use of the hand sanitizer placed throughout the studio.

DO wipe down your mat and equipment immediately before and after use with the available tea tree oil solution.

DO wipe bare feet with the available cleansing wipes prior to stepping onto the white carpet.

DO bring your own mat or towel from home as an extra barrier to the studio mats, if desired, or your own sweat towel.

DO cover your mouth if you have to cough or sneeze—these actions are the main culprit in how the coronavirus is spread. Cough or sneeze into a disposable tissue and immediately discard. If a tissue is unavailable, cough or sneeze into your elbow and avoid contact with that area against other people.

DO avoid hugs and handshakes. While we love you all, during this sensitive time a fist bump, elbow bump, or slight bow will suffice to greet each other.

DO NOT touch your eyes, mouth, face, etc. with unwashed hands.

Other Tips and Recommendations outside of the Studio:
  • Use knuckles to touch light switches, elevator buttons, etc.
  • When pumping gas into your car, lift the gasoline dispenser with a paper towel or use a disposable glove.
  • Use disinfectant wipes at stores when they are available to wipe shopping cart/basket handles and child seats.
  • Keep a bottle of 60% or higher alcohol-based hand sanitizer in your car and each home entrance for use.
  • Get lots of sleep, eat a balanced, nutritional diet, and continue to exercise to keep your immune system strong and healthy.
