Athletes represent a select population, and as such specific considerations should be applied to serving their needs and goals. This workshop will guide you through the unique and valuable applications available for the athlete utilizing the Pilates repertoire. Emphasis will be placed on the precision of the movement while developing strength, flexibility and endurance. The necessary tools required for structuring a demanding and well rounded session for the professional (or amatuer) athlete will be offered. The focus of this particular workshop is to ENHANCE ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE for triathletes, which includes swimming, cycling, and running. Each discipline will be addressed individually. Pilates is the ideal form of cross-training for any multi-disciplined athlete and facilitates compensations being detected and corrected. Pilates is intended to work the whole, and will improve the athlete's ability to harness the power of the mind-body connection. The BASI Pilates Movement Principles* will serve as a roadmap to this end.
