Pilates for Osteoporosis: Safe, Effective Programming for Low Bone Density

This workshop provides Pilates teachers with an evidence-based framework for safely and effectively working with clients who have osteopenia or osteoporosis. Participants will gain a clear understanding of bone health, common fracture patterns, and risk factors associated with low bone mineral density. The course emphasizes clinical reasoning and practical application, helping instructors identify which Pilates exercises are appropriate, which require modification, and which should be avoided for this population. Special focus is placed on posture, spinal alignment, strength training, balance, proprioception, and functional movement strategies that support fracture prevention and long-term independence. Through lecture, discussion, and movement exploration, teachers will leave with practical tools they can immediately apply in both private and group settings while maintaining the integrity of the Pilates method and prioritizing client safety.
