Jody Stern has been fitness professional for over 30 years and holds a degree in Adapted
Physical Education from California State University, Northridge. Jody has been teaching Pilates
for nearly 20 years and is BASI faculty.
Jody’s history includes living in Israel in 1986, where she was the group exercise coordinator at
the Tel Aviv Health Club. Upon returning to L.A. in 1990, Jody worked as the stretching coach to
the L.A. Clippers basketball team. In 1994 she and her family moved to Phoenix. Shortly after
that she began her Pilates career. In 2000, she became a STOTT Pilates certified instructor
through the advanced level in Matwork, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels. She began her
BASI education journey in 2006.
In 2009, she sold her original studio location to close friend and colleague, Lisa Bettini Moro
and successfully opened the Central Phoenix location. In 2012, Jody and Lisa were honored to
train in the BASI method in the inaugural Pro Bridge course with founder, owner and world-
renowned educator, Rael Isacowitz. Jody became a proud BASI graduate in February 2014! She
has completed many BASI workshops and advanced education courses, including Injuries and
Pathologies. Her own BASI journey continues with the Legacy Program, having completed the
Mentor, Master l and Master ll. Jody will complete the fourth and final step with the Honors
Program, in May 2019!
Pilates is a driving force in Jody’s everyday life, and she continues to grow as a student, teacher
and studio owner. Nothing gives her more pleasure than being able to make a difference and
help people of all ages and stages feel better with Pilates!
Jody is an avid swimmer and cyclist, and competed since 1982 in running 10k, half-marathon,
marathon distances, and sprint and Olympic triathlons. No longer able to run, without Pilates,
Jody feels that she would not have the physical or mental strength to keep moving forward!
