Pilates Foundation for Health & Wellness Professionals
Pilates Foundation for Health & Wellness Professionals is designed for physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists, chiropractors, Doctors and those with an extensive anatomy background interested in integrating Pilates into their work process. Program participants will gain knowledge of the Pilates repertoire of mat work and equipment exercises for motor learning, strength training, flexibility, balance, and proprioceptive re-education. The importance of stabilization, mobilization, and disassociation—as they are associated with the Pilates fundamental through intermediate exercises—will be analyzed and explained to guide clients safely through a range of scenarios including injury recovery, pre-surgery training, and post-surgical exercise.
This program consists of six modules. With its focus on specific muscle recruitment, cueing abilities, and exercise adaptation, the Pilates Foundation for Health & Wellness Professionals will enable you to integrate Pilates mat exercises, and fundamental through intermediate level exercises on the Reformer, Ped-a-pul, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, and BASI’s proprietary F2® System into your practice.
Following the completion of the Pilates Foundation for Health & Wellness Professionals Program, you can request to receive a Letter of Attendance. Should participants wish to continue their BASI education, there's the option of the Standard Graduate Program, taught in several host locations statewide. The Pilates Graduate Program for Health & Wellness Professionals is not been scheduled at this time.

A historical overview of Pilates is presented, plus the BASI® approach, and the importance of safety when teaching Pilates are discussed. Repertoire includes fundamental Mat and Reformer exercises. The Practice of Cuing

Primary concepts covered include the 10 movement principals of the BASI Pilates method, an historical overview of Joseph Pilates, and exercise description, analysis and teaching theory. Repertoire covers fundamental Reformer, intermediate Mat, Pole and Ped-a-pul. A one-hour mat class is taught.
The BASI Block System

Primary concepts covered include the BASI® system of movement analysis and exercise physiology. The BASI® format of teaching is discussed and the Block System®, created by Rael Isacowitz, is introduced. Repertoire taught is intermediate Mat and Reformer and Leg Weights. A one-hour mat class is taught.

Core Strength: Back and Abdominals

Discussions will include the guidelines for successful teaching, how to verbally present and cue movement based exercise to the client, and the importance of flow in an exercise session. Repertoire taught includes advanced Mat, intermediate Reformer, and Arm Chair. A one-hour mat class is taught.

Primary concepts include an in-depth look into exercise adaptation and the use of assists and modifications. Lecture focuses on how to construct a complete and comprehensive program. Repertoire taught is advanced Mat, intermediate Reformer, fundamental Wunda Chair and Magic Circle. A one-hour mat class is taught. A general review of the repertoire is conducted and the online Written Examination is available at the end of the program.
