It has been said that Joseph Pilates intended for his work to be practiced by children.  He dreamed of his method being taught in every school, as part of the curriculum. Pilates both exercises and relaxes young bodies. By introducing the concept of core strength at a young age, correct postural development is enhanced and skeletal and muscular problems later in life are reduced.  But, above all, Pilates concepts can help instill confidence in children; strong, healthy children are happy children!

In this unique workshop, you will learn creative ways of teaching children how to safely and healthfully develop their bodies and minds, using exercises, games and activities.

Course Objectives

  • Enhance your knowledge of child development in today’s society, based on World Health Organization reports and recommendations.
  • Understand the development of body movement in children, including the evolution and characteristics of basic motor abilities, coordination and flow of movement, balance and control and postural elements.
  • Understand how to integrate the Pilates method into social and family activities for children with a sedentary lifestyle.
  • Learn games, activities and Pilates-based exercises suitable for kids.
  • Receive recommendations of resources concerning the application of Pilates for children.
  • Learn to teach children the benefit of Pilates!
