Symposiums and Conferences

BASI Pilates participates in a variety of symposiums and conferences every year, ranging from the annual conference of the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) to BASI’s highly successful Learn From the Leaders series of symposiums.

In addition, Rael is one of the most sought-after speakers on the international Pilates circuit, though professional and family commitments have caused him to reduce his travel in recent years.

Learn From the Leaders originated in Queensland, Australia in 2002. Since then, this highly- acclaimed series has expanded worldwide, and has been held with great success in the USA, Australia, South Africa, Germany and Greece, with more in the works.

Rael conceived of the series as a forum in which leaders of the Pilates world could come together to further the philosophy and practice of Pilates education in a collaborative manner. Guest teachers for the program have included original students of Joseph Pilates, such as Lolita San Miguel, Kathy Grant, Romana Kryzanowska and Ron Fletcher.

The success and drawing-power of the Learn from the Leaders series is clear from the stellar list of teachers who have led or participated in its sessions. They include the leading students and protégés of the first generation - Michelle Larssen (Eve Gentry), Kathy Corey (Ron Fletcher), Rael Isacowitz (Kathy Grant,) Alan Herdman (Robert Fitzgerald) – as well as the most celebrated of the current teachers: Deborah Lessen, Carol Appel, Jillian Hessel, Carolyne Anthony and Karen Clippinger.
