Letter from Rael – November 2015

by Rael Isacowitz

As December approaches and with it the holiday season, many exciting things are happening in BASI-land. First we always run the Master and Master Reunion Programs in December. This is a wonderful and worthy tradition that we will surely keep going for years to come. The Mentor Programs are scheduled for earlier in the year (a prerequisite for attending the Master and then Master Reunion), so those that want to continue on to the Master and even Master Reunion in the same year can.

I love these programs; they are inevitably a journey into the depths of the Pilates system and are always filled with stimulating discussion, an abundance of great repertoire to practice and master, and much fun and laughter. I am always proud at the fact that these events are non-competitive and so wonderfully supportive. There is still time for those who want to attend this year’s Master and Master Reunion to register.

Onto some exciting news. Many of you may have seen the short promo clips that have been posted about the upcoming BASI Learn From The Leaders (LFTL) conferences 2016. We have been holding these intimate conferences worldwide since the late 1990’s very successfully. This will be our 3rd one at the gorgeous Hyatt Regency Resort Hotel in Newport Beach, California. There will be four featured presenters; Karen Clippinger, Deborah Lessen, Michele Larsson and yours truly, plus an incredible lineup of BASI Faculty presenting at our LFTL for the first time.

As you know BASI is not only about education, but also about celebration. To that end we are producing an evening called, “Celebrate the Night”. It will take place on the 16th of April in the outdoor amphitheater at the Hyatt. There will be two spectacular performances. Opening the evening will be Debora Taddei, co-owner of the BASI License to Spain (together with the ever-inspirational Guadalupe Ruis-Gimenez). Debora will be gracing us with her flamenco dancing. Judging by the pictures and having known Debora as a Pilates professional and mover, this promises to be unforgettable.

Following Debora’s performance, my beautiful and talented niece Maya Isacowitz will be returning to us after her show stopping performance in 2013. Maya has just released her second album, All of the Miles, which has received tremendous acclaim in Israel and further afield. I cannot wait to have Maya with us again. There will of course be an abundance of food and a cash bar as well. So come and celebrate the night with us!

I wish you all a peaceful and fulfilling Thanksgiving, as always a time to offer thanks for our many blessings and the gift of life itself, so pertinent during these tumultuous times.
