In the March/ April issue of Pilates Style Magazine, BASI Pilates is proud to feature Ena and Rina Kirima in the first installment of the My BASI Life campaign. What is My BASI Life? From the life as a BASI student, to the clients who are empowered by the method, BASI Pilates is an experience that has touched us all at different times in our lives.
My BASI Life inspires, creates and strengthens. Here is their story.
The BASI Life of Ena and Rina Kirima began at the age of 6 as twin ballet dancers. The two then started taking Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop and Contemporary classes. Later attending the Orange County School of the Arts under the commercial dance department, they were given the unique opportunity to perform at Galas, charity events and much more.
During high school, the twin sisters trained in all styles of dance at West Coast School of the Arts and went on to compete in various dance competitions receiving Scholarship honors and National Championship titles.
Following graduation, Ena and Rina attended Loyola Marymount University as dance majors, where they discovered their passion for Pilates. Starting as a supplement to their dance training and later evolving into so much more. Seeking a style and structure that complimented their dance experience, the sisters enrolled in the BASI Pilates Dance Specialization teacher training program taught by Karen Clippinger.
Upon completion of the intense course, Ena and Rina were accepted as Apprentice instructors at BASI Pilates Academy in Costa Mesa, CA. Besides teaching at the BASI Pilates Academy, their BASI Life awarded them the opportunity of a lifetime when they were asked to assist Rael Isacowitz at the Pilates World Conference, Tokyo, Japan in 2014.
The BASI Life is bright for these young instructors and when asked what the BASI Life meant to them, Ena and Rina replied “It’s really all about our clients. We love helping them reach their goals and live a healthy lifestyle. If they’re happy, we’re happy!”
